About Dr O'keeffe
Dr Ben O'Keeffe graduated from the University of Otago in 2012 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. He has worked across a range of medical specialties as a registrar and now focusing on musculoskeletal medicine. He is currently a research fellow with a special interest in sports medicine and ultrasound-guided joint injections.
Outside of medicine, Dr O'Keeffe is an internationally recognised rugby referee. He has officiated at the highest levels of the sport, including the 2019 and 2023 Rugby World Cups, and the British & Irish Lions tours in 2021 and 2025.
Dr O'Keeffe combines his experiences both on and off the field to promote excellent communication, active listening, mutual respect, and strong health advocacy. His approach is centred on delivering patient-focused care with professionalism and empathy
